Connors State was among five sites for the three day Heartland Baseball Tournament held the last weekend of June under the direction of Cowboys head baseball coach Perry Keith.
The tournament which began with four teams when it first began has grown to the current 20, went off without a hitch, according to Keith.
We had a great deal of talent on the field and the games were very completive, said Keith. We had great crowds turnout for the games. The tournament was well received at all the sites with good crowds.
It was the 11th year for the tournament which had 20 teams participate, which included five teams from Canada with approximately 250 players participating in the tournament. The players who played were incoming freshmen through graduated seniors.
Tournament play consisted of pool play with five teams in each pool, with the four pool winners advancing to semifinal play and the championship game. The team from Ontario, Canada, an 18-under team won the title defeating the Oklahoma Navy, an All-Star team, 11-3.
The tournament was played at five sites in the area, Connors State where the championship game was played, Warner High School, Hilldale High School, Okay High School and Bacone College.
