Q:

How do I prepare for the NDRT? Are there any practice tests?

A:

We do not provide any practice tests. The NDRT is widely used. Study guides and practice tests are available in retail bookstores and on the internet.

Q:

How many points do I need to pass the NDRT?

A:

The NDRT is not a pass or fail test.  In order for potential nursing students to be competitive, they are encouraged to earn all the points possible. The point scale is outlined on the Nursing Department web page:  14 = 1, 15 = 2, 16 = 3, 17 = 4, 18 = 5.

Q:

What if I don’t get the number of points I need?

A:

You may retake the Nelson Denny, however, you must obtain remediation AND previous scores will NOT be valid. The most recent score will be used in determining points toward admission to the nursing program. Remediation Options:
  1. College Reading class
  2. Successful completion of a semester of college classes taken since last test: must provide an unofficial transcript of work completed if testing a second time.  Note: You will receive a different version of the test.

Q:

When do I see my results?

A:

Results will be given following the test. Results can also be picked up in the nursing department the next day.
