TIPS

  • Apply ASAP after January 1.

  • You do not need to file your income tax return with the IRS before you complete the FAFSA.

  • Read the U.S. Department of Education's Student Guide. Know what you are applying for and how the system works.

  • Respond to all request immediately.

  • Keep a copy of all documents related to financial aid

  • Return the required portions of your award letter, making sure to sign where indicated.

  • Re-apply for financial aid every year you plan to go to school (each January) for the upcoming academic year.

  • Ask specific questions related to information you do not understand!!!

  • Remember to observe all due dates.

  • High School students: If you plan to attend college the summer after graduation, you must fill out the FAFSA by July 2nd.

  • The deadline for state aid (OTAG) is April 30th.
