SATISFACTORY PROGRESS |
Cumulative Hour Requirements Repayment of Title IV (Federal) Financial Aid Federal regulations that govern the administration of Title IV Student Financial Aid Programs require that a student maintain satisfactory progress toward the a degree or certificate in order to continue to be eligible to receive student aid funds. Connors State college has established the following MINIMUM standards which a student must meet in order to be eligible to continue receiving any Title IV Financial Aid.
Satisfactory Academic progress is said to have been met if the student successfully completes 12 hours per semester of CSC course work (may include zero level courses), or a minimum of 20 hours in an award year (Fall and Spring) or 24 hours including Summer. A student who enrolls less than full time is expected to complete a proportionate number of hours as state above* Students involved in a consortium agreement will be required to meet the same guidelines. A student who does not successfully complete the required hours during the Fall and/or Spring semesters must make the hours up during the Summer term. (an "AW", "W", "I", or "F" represents a course not successfully completed). Failure to complete the required number of hours will result in Financial Aid Suspension. During suspension, a student is not eligible to receive Title IV aid an must enroll and complete 12 hours of CSC course work, with a 2.0 GPA during their next semester of enrollment (Fall and Spring only) to regain eligibility.* Please note: any student who enrolls during any semester and withdraws after school begins or completes zero hours, will be automatically suspended from participation in the Title IV programs for their next semester of enrollment. Student will be required to complete the proportionate number of hours based on their previous enrollment status, (withdrew from 12 hours, required to complete 12 hours next semester of enrollment at CSC without Title IV aid.) Repayment of Title IV (Federal) Financial Aid Financial aid recipients whose circumstances require that they withdraw from all classes are strongly encouraged to contact the CSC Financial Aid Office and their academic advisor before doing so. At that time, the consequences of withdrawing from all classes can be explained. The CSC Financial Aid Office staff can provide examples of return of funds calculations and further explain its policy to students or parents. The federal government requires that students who withdraw from all classes may only keep the financial aid they have "earned" up to the time of withdrawal. Title IV funds (except federal work-study) that were disbursed in excess of the earned amount must be returned by CSC and/or the student to the federal government. This situation could result in the student owing aid funds to CSC, the government, or both. During the first 60% of the semester, a student earns Title IV funds in direct proportion to the length of time he or she remains enrolled. Therefore, the percentage of time during the semester that the student remained enrolled is the percentage of disbursable aid for that semester that the student earned. A student who remains enrolled beyond the 60% point in the semester earns all aid for that semester. |
